Gitwe is the name of the land on which one of the washing stations is built, producing some of Rwanda's
most highly valued specialty coffee lots. Despite being the smallest in size (covering an area of less than one
hectare), it is situated in a particularly advantageous location, atop a mountain valley at an altitude of
almost 2000 meters above sea level: just 3 km from Gatare and near the town of Kamina. Healthy coffee
trees and tropical fruit line the trail that descends to the station from the road. It was built in 2016 and
acquired by Rwanda Trading Company in 2018. In recent years, this company has renovated coffee
processing stations and organized training programs for small farmers, supporting them and helping them
produce superior quality coffee. Despite its size, it involves 1020 farmers who produce 500 tons of very
high-quality coffee annually.
