Shantawene washing station is located between the main village and the Bombe Mountain. The company owns a farm and works with several communities of outgrowers, about 1500 in total, from the nearby area across the mountain. Shantawene farm, where this coffee is fully processed, is known for developing the best practices in renewable farming and processing techniques. As an example, a coffee from Shatawene won the 7th place in the 2020 Cup of Excellence edition. Cherries grow between 1990 and 2190m a.s.l. They are highly dense and tiny (their average size is between 13-14 cm), because of a slow ripening. This naturally processed coffee comprises only ripe and carefully selected cherries. When the cherry is accepted, water is poured over it to remove inferior cherries. The cherry is then dried on African beds for 14 to 18 days, exposed to the sun until they reach the right percentage of moisture left.
Very sweet, richly fruited cup, with hints of cherry and strawberry.
