The history of the family-owned company Santa Barbara Estate dates from the early 20th century with Don Alejandro Angel (great grandfather to the current generation), one of the first major exporter of Colombian coffee. The combination of a prefect altitude with warm air from the Cauca river valley, and singular volcanic soils, guarantees a production of incredible quality coffees. Loma Verde is one of the sister farms belonging to Santa Barbara Estate. The company employs 60 people all year round, who on average earn 40% above the minimum wage. A further 1,200 local pickers are hired during the main harvest, to supplement their income. The Santa Bárbara Estate also runs an extensive scholarship and financial aid program for worker’s children. Coffee with intense notes of caramel, apricot, and black tea.
